Kate's cousin, Metaphorest, was sitting a few rows ahead, and she posted a photo that snapped the two other people I was with (actually caught Kenris biting into a roll). I brought my entire family from Canada to see this exact same night, and rather coincidentally was sitting two seats to the left and one row behind Terry Jones of Monty Python. I can tell you that the people next to him and immediately behind him didn't even notice him, they were so wrapped up with the show. Even when he casually went back and forth to the bar during the intermission no one bugged him (except me and my daughter of course.) I waited until we were all putting our coats on to leave. He had evidently been as impressed with the show as the rest of us. Neil Gaiman was on the recent BBC 4 documentary celebrating Kate's work - both he and Amanda Palmer (his wife) are big fans. Neil listened to The Dreaming pretty regularly while he was working on his celebrated comic series, 'The Sandman', which actually has some Kate Bush lyrics in it. In Sandman #3: 'Dream a Little Dream of Me', Rachel is singing the song 'The Dreaming'. Neil's mentor in comicbook land was the great Alan Moore, and Alan Moore's mentor in the world of comicbooks was the late, great, Steve Moore (The Hermit of Shooter's Hill). Kate's video for Experiment IV was filmed in a disused military hospital located off Shooters Hill Road.Rod McKiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15322224888246015883noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12581147.post-21245875960863553262014-10-05T10:51:01.321+00:002014-10-05T10:51:01.321+00:00Tell me what the 9 degrees link is Rod!Tell me what the 9 degrees link is Rod!Veronicanoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12581147.post-82574499351904488662014-10-04T15:30:57.112+00:002014-10-04T15:30:57.112+00:00That's lovely, Frank. I wa...Dear Rod, Thank you for this exquisite piece. I was there on the 2nd also. I have not been able to express in words what we experienced that night and what you have written here is so accurate and akin to my own experience of that momentous occasion- It can never be described as just 'a concert'. Your attention to preconception, audience response and understanding of the programme are enlightened, thank you for sharing this so eloquently. It seems Kate Bush at her sublime best brings out the best in her audience as well as her fellow artists on stage. I was truly amazed when as you mentioned, Kate is carried through the audience, the audience is so emotionally riveted to their seats and don't wish to ruin the moment, that they can't even react in regular 'fan' fashion by screaming out even though she is within 50cm of some of them.(though I did manage a discrete 'Kate, I love you' during the second-long gap in chanting as she was right there in front of row P and the timing was perfect. Row O assures me Kate heard me(forgive me for I had very little time to come up with anything more original in the time given) Testament to her fans, their response to her and the K fellowship, was an integral part of the entire experience. Words like incredible, amazing, barely scratch the surface, and all she did at the start was walk on stage with the rest of the singers, so genuinely humble and ... funny, I promised myself I would tell you how impressed I am with you and your publication and not gush about Kate Bush. Your piece brought back sobs and emotions as if I were experiencing the performance again as I was reading. Well done and thank you.Frank Kiralyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10012649945190211202noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12581147.post-11814926128022915512014-10-03T18:59:40.913+00:002014-10-03T18:59:40.913+00:00Thank you very much, Veronica, you are too kind.

Similar to how I was shaken to the core a night many, many years ago, when I properly sat down with The Dreaming and realised the genius I was listening to... and that was where my Kate Bush adventure began, undiminished in all the years in between.
